I tell my patients ‘before’ treatment what they need  to know including:

- Options for dental treatment, the risks and the potential benefits
- Why I  thinks a particular treatment is necessary and appropriate for you
- The consequences, risks and benefits of the dentistry I’m proposing
- The likely prognosis
- My recommended option
- The cost of the proposed treatment;
- What might happen if the proposed treatment is not carried out and
- Whether the treatment is guaranteed, how long it is guaranteed for and any
exclusions that may apply.

In summary, proper consent for me is on-going communication between my patient and the dental team.
